Lectures and interviews,
transcribed on your Mac.
Record a lecture stream, an interview or a call from your Mac's audio and microphone, or import the file you already have. Correct the transcript, search every session, and turn a lecture into practice questions answered from the lecture itself. Meeting notes belong to Silo Meet; burned-in video captions belong to Silo Caption (coming soon, macOS 15).
Keep the lecture.
Learn from it.
On-deviceSilo Transcribe turns long recordings into an archive you can search and learn from. A lecture, an interview or a recorded call goes in; a transcript you can correct, speaker by speaker, comes out, and it stays in the app's own storage on your device.
Start from the audio you already have.
Import a WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF or Ogg recording, or capture your Mac's system audio and microphone together while a lecture stream, an interview or a call plays. Every import gets an audio check before transcription, so a clipped, quiet, noisy or mostly silent file is flagged before you rely on its transcript.
The engine answers the app, not the network.
Transcription and summaries run on your Mac after a one-time model download you approve. The app reaches its engine through a private local socket inside its own container, not a network port. There is no account, no analytics and no Silo server. Connecting your own cloud account or a server you run is possible, and stays off until you switch it on and approve what leaves the Mac.
A lecture that answers back.
Choose the Lecture template and the Study tab turns what the lecturer said into notes and practice questions. Each answer is taken from the lecture. A question the lecture never answered, or answered two different ways, is set aside with the reason instead of guessed. Practice questions are always made on your Mac.
Capture. Correct. Study.
On-deviceThe file you kept.
The stream that is playing.
Import a WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF or Ogg recording, or capture your Mac's system audio and microphone together while a lecture stream, an interview or a call plays. The audio check runs before transcription, so a clipped or near-silent file is flagged instead of quietly producing a weak transcript. Taking notes in a meeting is a different job, and Silo Meet does it.

A transcript you
can argue with.
Pick one of 17 languages or let the app detect it. Lines the engine is unsure of are flagged; correct or accept them and they leave the review list. Custom Vocabulary keeps names and jargon spelled your way in later transcripts, and a speaker you rename is renamed across the whole session.

Questions the lecture
actually answers.
Choose the Lecture template and the Study tab writes notes and practice questions from the transcript. Click an answer to jump to that moment. A question the lecture never answered, or answered two different ways, is set aside with the reason and never exported; export the rest as CSV or a tab-separated file for your flashcard app. A sample lecture on first launch shows the whole tab before you record anything, and once you delete it, it stays gone.

From recording to review.
On-deviceRecord or import.
Capture Mac system audio and your microphone together, from the window or the menu bar, or import WAV, MP3, FLAC, AIFF and Ogg recordings.
17 languages.
On the Mac, transcribe in any of 17 languages or let the app detect the language. The speech model downloads once, with your approval, and then works without a connection.
Custom Vocabulary.
Teach it course terms, names and jargon once, and later transcripts use your spelling instead of a near miss.
Review what it doubted.
Lines the engine is unsure of are flagged for review. Correct a line or accept it as it is, and it leaves the review list.
Speakers, named once.
Every session carries speaker labels. Rename a speaker across the whole session in one step, or turn on a whole-recording speaker pass after a one-time model download.
Practice questions.
With the Lecture template, the Study tab builds notes and practice questions. Click an answer to jump to that moment in the transcript; edit one and it is checked against the lecture again.
Exports you can trust.
Set-aside questions never export. The rest save as CSV or as a tab-separated file that flashcard apps can import. Transcripts export as text, SRT or WebVTT.
Summaries that admit age.
Summaries of the lecture or interview are marked out of date as soon as you change the transcript underneath them.
Search, then dictate.
Search every session at once. Dictate into the app's own fields with ⌥⌘D, choosing Apple's dictation or the app's local speech model yourself.
What it needs,
where it runs.
RequirementsOn iPhone and iPad, Silo Transcribe records the microphone or imports an audio file, flags lines for review, uses your Custom Vocabulary, and writes a short summary on devices with Apple Intelligence. System-audio capture, speaker labels and practice questions are Mac features.

On-deviceSilo Transcribe turns lectures, interviews and other recordings into a transcript you can correct and search, on Mac, iPhone and iPad. On the Mac it also captures system audio and microphone together, labels speakers, and turns a lecture into practice questions answered from the lecture itself. Meeting notes are Silo Meet's job, and burned-in video captions belong to Silo Caption (coming soon, macOS 15).
Not by default. Transcription, speaker labels, summaries and practice questions run on your device after a one-time model download you approve. On the Mac you can connect your own cloud account or a server you run for transcription or summaries: cloud transcription uploads the recording's audio in short chunks with any language and custom vocabulary you set, and cloud summaries send the transcript text, directly from your Mac to the provider you configure. It stays off until you switch it on and confirm, and nothing ever goes to Silo Systems.
Cloud transcription services upload your recordings to their servers and sell minutes by subscription. Silo Transcribe transcribes on your own device by default, for a one-time purchase with no per-minute limit, and on the Mac it turns a lecture into practice questions, setting aside any the lecture did not actually answer.

Yes. On the Mac it records system audio and your microphone together, so a lecture stream, an interview or a call can be captured as it plays. On iPhone and iPad it records the microphone. If what you need is meeting notes, Silo Meet is the Silo app for that.
