Silo Tidy.
Sort a messy folder, see every destination first, and undo the move.
Silo Tidy moves your files, and can put them back. Point it at Downloads, Desktop or any folder that has got away from you: every file gets a proposed category with a reason, nothing is written until each uncertain file has a decision, and every run is kept in History with Undo. Filename rules need no download. The optional local models are pinned to an exact revision, checked for integrity before use, and can resume after an interrupted transfer; a partial download is never loaded.
It is not a disk cleaner or a backup tool. It never deletes a file to make room, and it syncs nothing. Turning scanned paper into searchable PDFs you can find again is what Silo Scan is for.
Available todaySee every destination before anything moves.
The exact destination of each file is on screen before a single write. If a file, a category or a destination changes after you reviewed it, the run is refused rather than guessed at. A Move writes the file into its new folder and checks it there before the original is removed.
Available todayUndo puts it back.
Every run is kept in History with its reviewed decisions and destinations. Undo returns moved files as long as the destination is unchanged, and a file you have edited since is never overwritten. A run interrupted part-way stays in History marked for recovery instead of vanishing.
Available todayIt learns how you file.
When you correct Silo Tidy the same way for two files with similar names, in runs you complete, it turns that into a rule it applies before anything else next time. A preview or a cancelled run never teaches it. Rules are listed under Categories with the corrections behind them, and one click deletes one.
Rename the ten starter categories, delete them, or describe new ones in plain words, such as 'Invoices from vendors' or 'Screenshots of bugs'. Documents, images, code, archives and audio or video metadata are all in scope, and each file gets a category, a confidence score and a one-line reason. Change one file or a whole selection.
Filename rules classify with no download. To sort by what is inside a file, add an optional model that runs on this Mac: Current at about 3.6 GB or Compact at about 1.1 GB, with its size and license shown before anything downloads. Bring Your Own Key stays off until you turn it on; then each file's name, basic metadata and a short text excerpt, plus your category list, go straight from your Mac to the provider you choose. Point it at a model server you already run on this Mac and nothing leaves it.
Smart Folder mode writes a Finder saved search for each category that gathers the reviewed files where they already are. When you do want files relocated, Copy and Move are there, and neither ever writes over an existing file.
A look at a folder that changes nothing: file types, the biggest files, empty folders and patterns worth a second look, judged from names, sizes and dates alone. Save a snapshot, compare the folder against it later, and export the comparison as Markdown or CSV. Only the candidates you select go on to review.
Scan a folder you choose, pick the keeper in each set of byte-identical files, and move only the copies you select into a destination you choose. Nothing is deleted. For duplicate photos in your Photos library or in a Lightroom Classic or Capture One catalog, use Silo Sweep.
The first-run tour can build a small throwaway sample folder inside Silo Tidy's own storage and select it for you, so your first Move and your first Undo happen on practice files. Removing it deletes only the sample. Reopen the tour from Help, from Settings or from the Command-K palette.
