Broker Opt-Out by Silo for macOS · available now

Find where brokers
list you.

Check the 5 US data brokers that allow an automated look-up, get a direct link for the others where one exists, and prepare opt-out requests from a 39-entry registry with dated evidence. You send every request yourself. No account, no subscription.

Formerly Silo Scanner. Paper-to-searchable-PDF scanning is Silo Scan, a separate app.

one-time purchase · on-device

Managed removal services bill you every year to submit opt-outs on your behalf, and they need your personal data to do it. Broker Opt-Out by Silo takes the other side of that trade: your profile stays on your Mac, and you pay once for a registry of checked opt-out paths, a request generator and a tracking log you keep. The services click for you; this app prepares everything and you click send.

Your profile stays local

Your saved profile stays on your Mac.

Your profile, scan results and tracking stay in the app's sandbox on your Mac, and exports go only to folders you pick. There is no account, cloud database or telemetry. A scan you start sends only the name and location terms it needs straight to the selected brokers' public search pages, which also see ordinary request details such as your IP address and the app's user-agent string. Your saved email, phone number and generated letters are never part of a scan.

Honest by design

Never claims what it can't prove.

Broker Opt-Out by Silo never promises guaranteed, complete or permanent removal. Brokers control their own databases and often re-list records; the app says so and reminds you to re-check every few months. Only 5 of the 39 brokers currently allow an automated public check. The other 34 are labeled "Needs Manual Check", with a direct link only when a current one exists.

Prepare, don't automate

You send every request.

For the 15 brokers with a supported channel, the app opens the broker's own opt-out form in your browser or composes an email in your own mail client, and you press send. Nothing goes out in your name without your action. Where the registry evidence does not support a channel, you get a checklist item carrying the broker's notes, never a generated letter or a guessed contact.

Three Moves

Scan

Check the sites
that let you.

The app runs one polite public-page check against each of the 5 brokers whose search pages permit it, and labels the other 34 "Needs Manual Check", with a direct link only when a current one exists. Before you save a profile, the Scan tab already shows every broker, how it is checked and how old its evidence is. It never bypasses a CAPTCHA, never solves a challenge, never fabricates a status.

Draft

Letters from fixed
templates, not guesses.

For the 15 brokers with a supported channel, the request comes from fixed registry data and templates; no language model writes it. For the other 24, you get a manual checklist item with the broker's notes and a link only when a current one exists, never an invented contact. California deletion language appears only when it actually applies.

Not the app.

Web forms open in your browser. Emails compose in your own mail client. Letters export as PDFs to a folder you pick, and scan results copy as CSV. Case Desk, on the Remove tab, lists requests you sent more than 30 days ago that are still unconfirmed and brokers that re-listed you. For a selected Case Desk follow-up, you can export a standards-compatible .ics file to a location you choose; the app does not request Calendar access, add an event, or transmit the reminder. It never posts a form or sends an email on your behalf. Save an evidence pack, a folder of plain-text and CSV records, to keep your own trail.

What the app does.

local profile · source-checked registry
registry 2026.09SC/01

39 registry entries, readable first.

Every entry in the bundled registry carries a dated, source-checked evidence note, and the whole table sits on the Scan tab before you enter a profile: which sites are checked automatically, how each opt-out is sent, and whether California deletion rights apply. Nineteen entries were rechecked in September 2026, including every automated route and every form and email channel; the other twenty keep their July or June 2026 evidence.

scanSC/02

Automated check where it's allowed.

5 of the 39 brokers expose a public search page that permits an automated check. The app checks them politely: at most 3 requests at once, at least 1 second between requests to the same site, robots.txt honored. A result reads Likely Listed only on a page match, and on sites that search by name alone, one of your cities must also appear on the page next to its state.

polite · marker-based · city-confirmed→
manualSC/03

Manual checklist for the rest.

The 34 brokers that do not allow a reliable automated check (challenge walls, pages that need JavaScript, robots.txt rules, or inconclusive routes) are labeled "Needs Manual Check", with a direct link when a current one exists. The app sends no request at all to those entries: no probing, no workarounds.

34 sites · guided self-check→
requestsSC/04

Deterministic request templates.

Opt-out requests are built from the registry's dated evidence and fixed templates. No language model writes any request. Fifteen brokers have a supported channel today (10 web forms, 5 email templates); the other 24 go to a manual checklist, never a made-up form or contact. Letters export as PDFs to a folder you choose.

no LLM · 15 supported channels→
californiaSC/05

CCPA clause only where it applies.

Letters include a deletion request under Cal. Civ. Code 1798.105, as amended by the CPRA, only when the broker is flagged as covered and your profile's state is California. Twelve letter-producing brokers are in scope today; everyone else gets plain opt-out language. The app never asserts rights you don't have, and it is not legal advice.

12 brokers · CA residents only→
trackingSC/06

Local tracking log.

Track each opt-out as Not submitted, Submitted, Confirmed or Re-listed in a local log inside the app container. Re-scan later and each result shows whether a listing is new, still listed or resolved since your previous scan. Erase all data in Settings removes the profile, the current and prior scan, and the log in one step.
