privacy · controls · exportNo. The chosen video is inspected, sampled, quantized, and encoded locally. There is no account, cloud conversion endpoint, analytics, telemetry, or subscription, and the app can convert while your device is offline.
You can trim the source, crop it to square, 4:5 or 16:9, set the output from 16 to 2048 pixels, choose 1 to 50 fps, set playback speed from 0.25× to 4× with bounce and a repeat count, pick 16 to 256 colors with a Full or Frame Difference palette and a Bayer dither, and hold the final frame for up to two seconds. Small, Balanced and High are starting points, and you can keep up to 32 named recipes of your own.
Yes, on iPhone and iPad. Choose from Photos opens both videos and Live Photos in the system picker, and for a Live Photo Silo Gif uses its paired motion component. Picking an item does not ask for photo-library access. The Mac app imports movie files, not Live Photos.
On iPhone and iPad you can save it to Photos or Files, copy it, or share it. On Mac you can save it to a location you choose, copy it, or share it; Save to Photos is on iPhone and iPad only. On both, Make a GIF is also a Shortcuts action, and on Mac you can start a conversion by sending a movie from Finder’s Share menu.
GIFs store every sampled frame and have a practical memory budget. Before export, Silo Gif shows a file-size range measured by encoding a few sample frames from your clip, and it keeps a bounded frame count and output size. Trim first, lower the frame rate, or choose a smaller long edge when you need a lighter file.
