On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Silo Gif trims, crops, tunes, and exports GIFs locally. Try a sample loop, on the first screen, runs the whole conversion before you bring in media of your own. The preview loops exactly inside your trim, and you can scrub the source or step through it frame by frame. Bounce loops play back in reverse, and frame timing follows your speed, bounce, and end-hold settings. A file-size range, measured by encoding a few sample frames from your clip, updates as you change settings. Save your settings as named recipes that stay on the device, up to 32 of them, and cancel an export without leaving a partial file. Save the GIF to a location you choose, copy it, or share it from the share sheet. On iPhone and iPad, Choose from Photos opens the videos in your library and Choose from Files opens a MOV or MP4; on iPad you can drop a movie onto the import area too. On iPhone and iPad, you can also start from a Live Photo and save the GIF to Photos. On a Mac, drop a movie onto the window, import one with Command-O, or send one from Finder through the share extension; Space plays the source, the arrow keys step one frame, and Command-E exports.

Your video stays in the room.

Silo Gif reads the file you choose, samples its frames, reduces the colors with its own palette builder, and writes the GIF on the device. There is no upload step, hosted converter, account, or analytics SDK, and the Mac app does not hold a network entitlement. Turn off the network and the conversion still works.

Fast when you want it. Exact when you need it.

Start from Small, Balanced or High, or open the full control surface: trim the moment, crop to square, 4:5 or 16:9, set the output from 16 to 2048 pixels, pick the frame rate and playback speed, choose 16 to 256 colors and a Bayer dither, and hold the last frame for up to two seconds.

A small tool with a clear receipt.

One $2.99 purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Save the GIF where you choose, copy it, or share it, and on iPhone and iPad save it to Photos. On a Mac, hand a movie to Silo Gif from the Finder Share menu. No subscription, quota, or account follows the export.

Trim and frame

Choose the exact moment, crop to square, 4:5 or 16:9 from the center of the picture while the preview shades what will be cut, and set the output size with the aspect ratio locked or free.

Tune the texture

Set the frame rate, speed from 0.25× to 4×, bounce, and a repeat count or forever. Then decide how the colors are reduced: a weighted median-cut palette of 16 to 256 colors, built from every frame or mostly from the pixels that change between frames, and an 8×8 Bayer dither whose grid you can scale.

Each GIF89a file is reopened after it is written, and its frame count and canvas size are checked before it is handed to you. Send it to Files, the clipboard, or another app, or to Photos on iPhone and iPad. Make a GIF is also a Shortcuts action.

The boundary

No magic cloud. No fine print.

Silo Gif is a local converter, not a social network or media library. It does not host your source, sync a project, or add text, stickers or captions, and the output tops out at 2048 pixels on the long edge. It does one job carefully: make a shareable animated GIF from the clip you chose.
