Help & support.
Your Mac's terminal, in your pocket. Here's how to get help with it.
Email a human.
direct · no ticket queueEmail us about anything: a bug, a pairing question, or a feature request. Because Matadoor runs peer-to-peer between your own devices, we can help without ever seeing your sessions; please don't include any private terminal output in your message.
Email support ↵The short answers.
pairing · demo · relaysAn iPhone or iPad on iOS or iPadOS 26, and a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 with the free Matadoor Host installed. Open the host's menu-bar popover to show the pairing QR, scan it in Matadoor, and approve the device on the Mac. The host is a free download from this site or from Homebrew (brew install flowmar47/tap/matadoor), not a separate purchase.
Yes. In Matadoor, tap Try Demo Session in the sidebar or in the Get Matadoor Host sheet. It runs a simulated terminal, a coding agent that asks for approval, and system, file and git panels filled with sample data, all on your device, with no Mac and no pairing.
The QR shown by your Mac carries the host's endpoint identity and an X25519 key, so scanning it in person is what establishes trust. The Mac must approve each device before any session starts. Every byte then rides QUIC with TLS 1.3, authenticated by the peer's endpoint id, and each message is sealed again with ChaCha20-Poly1305 under the pairing key.
Yes, in the default setting. Matadoor connects directly whenever it can and otherwise through a relay that only forwards ciphertext. If you set Matadoor Host to Direct only, connections must find a direct path, so pairing or reconnecting across restrictive networks may not work. With your own relay, reachability depends on that relay.
You choose in the Matadoor Host popover on the Mac: n0's public relays (the default), a relay you host yourself, or Direct only. A relay forwards packets that are already encrypted and sees your endpoint id and IP address, never your terminal or files. In the default mode, n0's discovery service also sees your endpoint id and IP. Self-host or Direct only takes n0 out of the path entirely.
iOS suspends Matadoor and the connection closes; with no server of ours in the middle, nothing can wake your phone. On iPhone, the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island keep your latest agent session, marked Paused. The session keeps running on the Mac, Matadoor Host alerts you there when an agent needs input or finishes, and reopening Matadoor reconnects.
On your Mac, as you. Matadoor supports four command-line coding agents and starts the ones installed on your Mac, alongside a plain shell. It relays your input and their output over the encrypted link and makes no model calls of its own.
Matadoor is a one-time purchase with no in-app purchases, so there is nothing to restore inside the app. Download it again from the App Store with the same Apple ID, then scan your Mac's pairing QR and approve the new device.
